U21 first road trip
The U21 Thunder Bay Queens will travel to Sault Ste. Marie this weekend for their first road trip of the season. The team will face Sault College Cougars for a three game exhibition series.
The U21 Thunder Bay Queens boarded an early morning bus on route to Sault Ste. Marie in seek of a win over the Sault College Cougars.
The team arrived just in time to hit the ice for the afternoon game. The "bus legs" would not show, as the Queens jumped to an early 1-0 first period lead on a goal by Chloe Skead. Skead would score again in the second as the Queens held a 2-1 lead after 2nd. Marissa Brosseau would shut the door in the 3rd to secure the 4-1 win. Goals in the 3rd came from MacIsaac and Darosa.
Queens outshot the Cougars 24-18.
The team playing in their second of three games against Sault College Cougars and would need to rely on netminder Williams to stand strong in the net. The Queens were outshot 25-15 in the game but would come away with the 3-1 win. Goals from Darosa, Skead, and Kemppainen (en).
The Queens would look for the sweep in the third and final game of the weekend. The team didn't get the start they wanted, trailing 3-1 after the first, lone goal from Illot. The second would see the Queens get closer with goals from Alexiuk and Skead, but would trail 4-3 after two. The Queens would show off their offensive side by scoring 6 in the third to complete the sweep. Goals in the period coming from Lehto, Skead, Illott, Armstrong, Doucet and Nemy.
