Gridlink Atom Queens Open St. Luke’s Icebreaker

DULUTH, MN — The Gridlink Atom Queens started the St Luke’s Icebreaker with a game against Minnetonka. Both teams managed only a single goal in regulation and would need overtime to choose a winner. Unfortunately for the Queens, it’d be Minnetonka coming out on top with the OT winner.

In their second game against Mahtomedi, the Queens hoped for a better outcome and it did open up how they’d want as Paetyn Stansell played the roll of playmaker on two goals, first setting up Olivia Vinet early in the period and then to Ava Hrubeniuk late in the period as the Queens took a 2-0 lead into the second. Shayla Stokaluk extended the lead to three, Mahtomedi would get one back but only one, as the Queens took this one 3-1.

Sunday, the Gridlink Atom Queens will take on Woodbury at 8:15am in the Silver Consolation Championship Semifinal.
