THUNDER BAY QUEENS HOCKEYMedia Release: Saturday, December 14, 2019Atom and Bantam Queens at Elks Santa Claus Showdown
THUNDER BAY, ON — At this weekend’s Elks Santa Claus Showdown, the Gridlink Atom Queens took on stiff competition in the Atom AA division getting shutout 6-0 by the KC Sabres Atom AA on Friday afternoon but having a more competitive contest that evening against the Fort Frances Canadians but ultimately losing 4-2. Saturday morning, the Northern Selects defeated the Atom Queens 5-1. The Queens will have a re-match against Fort Frances on Sunday in a Consolation game.
Meanwhile, the Bantam A Queens are in the Peewee AA division. Grace Fitzpatrick scored the lone goal (assisted by Alexis Prepp) in a 3-1 loss to the Peewee AA Neebing Hawks Friday morning and came up just short of the comeback against Current River as Amande Valente (Julia Moro and Kaitlin Whatley assists) and Prepp’s (Paige Fucile and Amanda Valente assists) goals weren’t enough in the 3-2 loss. Saturday though, the Bantam A would earn their first win as Paige Fucile opened the scoring on a setup feed from Emily Leveque and Prepp continued getting on the scoresheet scoring the eventual game winner (assists to Tessa Maki and Grace Fitzpatrick) in a 2-1 win.
The Bantam A Queens will also have a re-match in a Consolation Game, taking on the Current River Comets Saturday afternoon.
