BLAINE, MN — In their final game of the CCM National Invite Tournament, the Sportop Midget AA Queens took on a familiar foe in Gentry Academy, who they had recently hosted back home in Thunder Bay. Fresh off her hattrick performance, Brenna Nicol continued her run of torching goalies, scoring twice in the opening period, putting the Queens up 2-0. In the second however, Gentry would pocket three unanswered goals, taking back the lead. 3-2 after two. In the third, the Queens pressed for the equalizer as netminder Reese Keating kept their comeback hopes alive. They’d end up pulling the goalie for the extra attacker and generating some good chances but ultimately fell to Gentry 3-2.
The Sportop Queens come back to the Lakehead with a 2-2 record and some great experience.
