THUNDER BAY, ON — Sportop Midget AA Queens player Brenna Nicol has committed to the University of Manitoba. Nicol will finish out her third season with the Midget AA Queens for the 2019-20 season before suiting up for the U of M Bisons in the 2020-21 season. “I have heard a lot of good things about the University of Manitoba.” Brenna Nicol told thunderbayqueens.com, “I know that it is a good program that will allow me to continue playing hockey at a high level and also get a good education at the same time.” For now, Nicol hasn’t decided which education stream she’ll be following but thought that landing in the faculty of education was a good possibility.
Nicol credits the Queens organization in helping her get to this point, “The Queens have definitely played a huge role in preparing me for this opportunity, coming from a small town, the Queens have given me the exposure I needed. The coaches I’ve had throughout the years have definitely helped me improve year by year not only as a hockey player but as a person. I also have my family, billets, coaches, teammates, friends and teachers to thank for their endless support.”
Nicol will eventually join fellow Queens Molly Kunnas and Jamie Ricklefs who just completed their third seasons with the Midget AA Queens and will play for the Bisons this coming season.
