Gridlink Midget A’s Edged Out in Qualifier at Provincials


VAUGHAN, ON — The Gridlink Midget A’s lost 2-0 Saturday afternoon to the St. Catharines Brock Jr Badgers in a qualifying match for the Quarterfinals in the OWHA Provincials Championship. The Jr Badger broke the 0-0 tie late in the second period. The Queens pressured hard for the equalizer but couldn’t find it as St. Catharines scored on an empty net with 37 seconds left to win and move on.

The Midget As finish 1st in their pool with a record of 2-1-0, defeating the Flamborough Falcons 3-0 Friday morning, losing to the Clarington Flames 1-0 and beating the London Devilettes 3-0. Each game was tight and ended with someone being shutout.

The Gridlink Queens goalies only allowed a combined 2 goals against on the weekend. Queens goaltender Mya Gowanlock closes out her Queens career in this game after an extraordinary season.
