THUNDER BAY, ON — The Gridlink Atom Queens got things rolling at the Neebing Classic with a 3-2 win against the Norwest Stars on Friday afternoon. The Queens were able to score in each period as Sophia Campagna opened the scoring and Olivia Vinet buried two more. In their evening game against the Buzzy’s Elks, the Queens allowed the first goal of the game early on but it’d be all Queens afterward as Sienna Ricciardi and Vinet quickly erased the lead and then took the lead in the first. Kayla Grant and Maddy Arthur’s second period goals extended the lead to 4-1. Ava Hrubeniuk would chip in one more in the 5th as the Gridlink Atoms breezed to a 5-1 victory.
Saturday, the girls will meet the Westfort Maroons at 9:00am before taking on the Westfort Rangers at 3:00pm. Sunday’s playoff action will be determined by their first four games. Fans can follow the tournament standings at https://www.neebinghockey.com/page/show/192029-tournaments
