WINNIPEG, MB — The Sportop Midget AA Queens are in Winnipeg this weekend for the Female World Sport School Challenge where they took on the Eastman Selects on Thursday night in their first match.
Eastman got on the scoresheet in the first with the period’s only goal. The Queens tied the game in the second on a powerplay goal from Brynn Lambert (Alexis Paddington drew the lone assist) as the two teams skated into the third tied at one. In the third, Kailey Swerhun would give the Queens the lead on a setup from Brenna Nicol. Molly Kunnas extended the lead to 3-1, while goalie Josée Robinson held the fort stopping 34 of 35 shots she faced. Robinson’s .971 save percentage earned her Game MVP honours for the Queens.
