Recap: Midget A Queens 4-Game Series with Kapuskasing

KAPUSKASING, ON — The Gridlink Midget A Queens opened up the four game series with the Kapuskasing Jaguars with a 3-1 win on Friday. Saturday morning the Queens got a quick jump on the Jaguars with two goals from Kayla Stein and Emma Johnston. Kapuskasing cut the lead to one. The lead held until the Jaguars pulled their goal for the extra attacker and managed to score to tie the game. 2-2 final.

In their Saturday evening game, Kapuskasing would score first this time late in the first. Olivia Nicholl buried a goal with 25 seconds left in the second to tie it up and Sarah Grieve would put the Queens up for good in this one as Sydnie Crocker put the game away 1:12 left. 3-1 win.

Sunday morning the Queens looked to go undefeated in the series but the Jaguars would make it difficult scoring 27 seconds into the game. Thunder Bay turned the tables as Caitlyn McGuire and Caitlin Olinski both scored second period goals to take the lead into the third but Kapuskasing scored a goal early into the period and then another in the last 5-minutes to take the lead which the Queens couldn’t answer back to in a 3-2 loss.

The Gridlink Midget A Queens finish the series with a 2-1-1 record, all games very competitive.
