DULUTH, MN — The Thunder Bay Peewee Queens visited Duluth, Minnesota this past weekend for a 4-game exhibition series with teams from the surrounding area. After coming off a pair of tough games, losing 3-1 to Duluth and 4-0 to Hermantown, the Queens looked to rebound against Anoka. Anoka drew first blood, scoring on the powerplay to take a 1-0 lead. In the second period the Queens would tie the game on a goal by Ariana Veneziano. The 1-1 draw held for a while until Anoka scored again to take a 2-1 lead but then just 48 seconds later, Rhae Thomas would score to tie the game and then 1:29 after that, Mackenzie Kostiuk got on the board to give the Queens their first lead of the weekend which the held onto. 3-2 final. Head Coach Dave Olenik described the come from behind win as potentially the turning point in their season.
The Peewee Queens would finish off the weekend routing Mahtomedi 8-0 on Sunday morning before heading back home.
