Bantam AA Queens Off To Finals in Eden PrairieEDEN PRAIRIE, MN — Nothing less than perfection will do at the 12th Annual “Prelude to the Playoffs”. With 12 teams in contention for just four playoff spots, the Queens earned their spot with a perfect 3-0 record in the round robin to face Osseo-Maple Grove Saturday morning.
As she had done the previous two games, Queens Captain Kendra Fortin opened the scoring as Emma Johnston would set her up just 1:37 into the game. Shortly after, Fortin would again do early damage setting up Alexis Paddington about half-way into the opening frame. Then Paddington would follow suit setting up Desiree Kamande on her next shift to amass a 3-0 lead through the opening frame. Osseo-Maple Grove was not to go away quietly taking advantage of a powerplay early in the second period and another one late in the third to draw the contest to a one-goal game. With the goalie pulled and OMG pressing, Olivia Nicholl would track down the puck and get it to Paddington who’d sink the puck into the empty net along her opponent's chances of completing the comeback.
With this victory, the Bantam AAs find themselves in the championship game at 2:45 pm against Edina.
