Johnson, Humeniuk Earn Shutouts on Day 2 of 2 Nations, News (Thunder Bay Women's Hockey Association)

BRAMPTON, ON – On day two of the 2 Nations College Prep Series, the Sportop Midget AA Queens met up with the 2nd ranked U17 team in Canada, the Brampton Canadettes. After allowing two goals in the second period, Thunder Bay tied the game back up on two tallies in just over a minute by Victoria Darosa and Lucy Newman. Brampton would notch the only goal of the third period however taking a 3-2 win. Thunder Bay's 2-1 record would pit them against the Markham-Stouffville Stars in their afternoon game. Queens forward Kaylee Grosjean opened the scoring early in the first and defenceman Ellen Svane added to the lead midway through the second which would be more than enough goals as Aden Johnson earned the shutout for the Queens in a 2-0 win.

Over in the U14 division, the Bantam AA Queens started Saturday morning against Belle Tire where Alexis Paddington would carry the offensive load. After drawing an assist on a first period goal by Olivia Nicholl, Paddington scored a hat trick, lifting her team to a 4-1 victory. Goaltender Mykaila George surrendered only a single powerplay goal in the win. Like the Midget AAs, the Bantam AA Queens also carried a 2-1 record through to the playoff round. This would align them to play the Milwaukee Jr Admirals. Meggie Mallon and Gaby Andreacchi both scored a pair for the Queens, Olivia Cava and Reese Coffey added one each to the scorefest as Lindsay Humeniuk stopped all opportunities afforded to the Jr Admirals in a 6-0 drubbing.

The Sportop Queens will take on the Ottawa 67s at 8:45am on Sunday while the Bantam AAs will meet the Bluewater Hawks at 8:30am.
