Bantam AA Queens blanked in Super Chill final

BLAINE, Minn. – The Thunder Bay bantam AA Queens dropped a 3-0 decision to a strong Edina Green side Sunday in the title game of the Centennial Super Chill tournament Sunday evening in Blaine, Minn.

Thunder Bay, who was without their captain Brenna Nicol and crafty winder Kayla Stein, due to injury, could not gain any momentum in the contest as they were blanked by Edina for a second time this season.

Camryn Williams turned in a solid performance in goal for the Queens despite the setback keeping her side in it with a multitude of big saves throughout.

Thunder Bay earned a berth in the title contest by shutting out the Blaine Bengals in the semifinals.

Desiree Kamande put the bantams on the board with the lone marker in the first as she broke into the Blaine zone, skated into the middle and proceeded to wire a shot into the top corner to open the scoring.

Sarah Grieve then showed great agility in upping the lead to 2-0 as she notched a beauty from in close.

After a scoreless middle session they Queens tacked on three more to secure the decision.

Alexis Paddington fed Kailey Swerhun for a nice tip-in on the third marker, Caitlyn McGuire wristed home a fourth tally while Olivia Nicholl knocked in a rebound to send the club to the title game.

Lindsay Humeniuk earned her third shutout of the weekend in the triumph.

Peewee play Sunday in Blaine saw the Queens fall 3-0 to the Osseo-Maple Grove Orioles in the fifth place contest.
