Midget AA Queens win 4th straight in Detroit

DETROIT, Mich. – The Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens won their fourth straight game at the 2 Nations College Prep Series in Detroit, Mich., after skating to a narrow 1-0 triumph over Little Caesars Saturday evening.

The lone goal of the contest came in the first period with Hannah Armstrong notching the difference maker.

Drawing assists on the game-winner was Karadyn Kiviaho and Jayda MacArthur.

Aden Johnson made 12 saves to post the shutout.

The club will wrap-up play Sunday against a yet to be determined opponent.

Meanwhile in Fort Frances, the Topper’s Pizza midget A Queens remained unbeaten at Scott Clendenning Memorial Showcase in Fort Frances after playing to a 2-2 draw with the host Fort Frances Muskies Saturday afternoon.

Caitlyn Olinksi staked Thunder Bay to the lead in the first before the Muskies tied it later in the period.

After a scoreless middle session, Fort Frances went on top with 3:36 left in the third.

Battling back the Queens struck shorthanded with 48 seconds remaining as Olinksi notched her second goal of the day.

Anjelina Badanai was in net for the tie.

The midget A’s return to ice tonight at 9 p.m. as they take on the Thunder Bay Fury at 9 p.m.
