STONEY CREEK, Ont. – The Thunder Bay bantam AA Queens wrapped up play at the 8th Annual Stoney Creek Sabres Showcase Sunday on a winning note as they defeated the Markham-Stouffville Stars 2-1.
The Queens dominated the play in the opening period outshooting Markham-Stouffville 10-1, but could not solve the Stars netminder.
Action in the middle session saw Markham-Stouffville capitalize on one of their few chances early in the session to go up by one.
Thunder Bay responded before the stanza was complete with the equalizer following a quick turnover as Brenna Nicol set-up Kailey Swerhun to knot the affair at 1-1.
The Queensthen took advantage of some undisciplined play by the Stars in the third to notch the game-winner as Alexis Paddington wristed home the difference maker off Sydney White feed.
Lindsay Humeniuk shut the door the rest of the way in a game that say Thunder Bay out shoot their opponents 24-10.
In all the Queens finished with a 3-2 record in the 46-team tourney.
