Queens’ Isbell commits to D-I Mercyhurst of NCAA

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Queens are pleased to announced that Sportop midget AA Queens co-captain Samantha Isbell has earned an opportunity to play collegiately in the NCAA.

The gifted Queens’ forward has committed to attend Mercyhurst College in Erie, Penn., on scholarship and skate for the Lakers starting in the 2016-17 season.

A grade 11 honour roll student at Westgate High School, had been highly recruited by multiple NCAA Division I programs before officially committing to Mercyhurst.

Isbell will eventually join her sister Sydney in the NCAA ranks in 2016.

Sydney is a goaltender in her freshman season at Chatham University in Pittsburgh where she’ll tend the nets for the Cougars hockey program.

Mercyhurst meanwhile is a member of the College Hockey America conference and presently feature another Queens’ alumna in netminder Amanda Makela.
