Sportop Queens to host Shattuck-St. Mary’s this weekendThe Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens will be on home ice this weekend as they entertain a strong Shattuck-St. Mary’s Sabres under-19 prep team in a three-game set at local arenas.
Thunder Bay will meet the Faribault, Minn.-based Sabres’ side twice Saturday and once Sunday.
They’ll open up Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at Fort William First Nation Arena followed by a 6:30 p.m. encounter at Delaney Arena.
One final contest will be held Sunday at noon as the two clubs wrap-up the series at the Fort William Gardens.
Among the notable names on the Shattuck roster are goaltender Taylor Crosby, the younger sister of NHL star Sidney Crosby, along with former Queens’ forward Brooke Boquist.
Crosby and Boquist are the only two Canadians on the Shattuck roster.
Boquist is averaging over a point-per-game with the Sabres scoring 18 times and setting up 17 others in 33 games. She currently sits third in team scoring.
Crosby meanwhile has recorded 11 of her team’s 29 victories so far this season, including three shutouts.
