Manshield BA Queens crowned Star of the North champions

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. – The Thunder Bay Manshield Construction bantam A Queens got a pair of goals from Katrina Cimini and rode the shutout goaltending of Taylor Gombola to help defeat the host Grand Rapids Lightning 4-0 Sunday in the championship game of the Star of the North tournament in the northern Minnesota community.

Delaney McLeod scored the only goal the Queens would need in the final and she finished off the feed of Hanna Johnston during a first period power play.

Cimini then tallied twice in the middle session with Tia Lampo and Alyssa Piccolo adding assists.

Lampo then iced it in the late going of the contest to round out the scoring.

Gombola finished with 22 saves in posting the shutout for Thunder Bay who fired 36 shots on the Grand Rapids goaltender.

The victory marked the third consecutive tournament title for the bantam A squad who also won the Traveling Cup in Cloquet and the Queens Showcase events  in December.
