In a landmark moment for female youth hockey in Northern Ontario, the inaugural Northern Boreal Select Series, hosted by the Thunder Bay Queens brought together four formidable teams – the Halfway Motors U18A Thunder Bay Queens, U15AA Thunder Bay Queens, Fort Frances Muskie Girls, and the Kenora St. Thomas Aquinas Saints. Over an exciting weekend of hockey, the young female athletes showcased not only their skill and determination but also the rich talent pool present in the region.

After a season of hard work and many practice hours, the Halfway Motors U18A team took on the North Halton Twister this morning in their final round-robin game.  Unfortunately the team suffered a 2-1 loss.  However their 1-1-1 round-robin record was enough for the team to place 2nd in their pool and advance to a last chance play-in game.  

The Halfway Motors U18A team qualified for the OWHA Provincials this weekend, after 2 tough games against the Fort Frances Muskies at the Atikokan Rec Arena.  The playdown games were tense for both players in fans that made the 2 hour trip.  The Queens would complete heroic 3rd period wins in both games to secure a trip to Toronto to represent the West Region.

After going 4-0 in round robin play, Halfway Motors U18 Queens lost in the Championship game of the annual Barrie Sharkfest Tournament.
