Notre Dame slips past Thunder Bay at World Sports School Challenge in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG, Man. – A Lyndsey Janes goal eight minutes into the third period proved to be the decider as the Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens were edged 2-1 by the Notre Dame Hounds of Saskatchewan in Day 2 play Friday at the World Sports School Challenge in Winnipeg, Man.

Thunder Bay did get off to a solid start, notching the night’s opening tally two and a half minutes into the contest on a Karadyn Kiviaho tally.

Earning assists on the play were Ellen Svane and Briana Prete.

Notre Dame tied it thanks to a Sophie Young power play marker at 12:18.

Then after a scoreless middle session, Janes supplied the game-winner in the final frame for the Hounds.

Josée Robinson suffered the narrow setback in net for Thunder Bay, who fell to 0-3 at the eight-team event.

The Queens will conclude competition at the WSSC in Winnipeg Saturday at 11 a.m. when they meet the Eastman Selects of Manitoba.
