  • Operation of the Fury Development Program

    • (ie New Goalie Development Program; New Skills Development Programming)
  • Formalize partnerships with other leagues & associations to maximize playing opportunities.

House League

The TBWHA House League is one in which the eligibility of players to participate is not restricted by skill level. It is the intent to accept all individual registrations and divide all players into equal teams based on age and ability. It is the intent of the Junior Division to expand and strengthen House League programming to offer a more wholesome hockey experience to all girls. Collaborations are being explored with other associations and groups to provide more support and varied play.
To ensure that all girls benefit from a wholesome hockey experience, a different strategy may be employed by the Junior Division for each age division. Final program offerings, including classifications of teams in each division will be driven by registration numbers with an aim to maximize opportunities. Please visit each division site to learn more about program offerings.

House League players (U9, U11, U13, U15, U18) will also have the opportunity to
participate in our Fury Development Program, which will have additional practice times and play. All players wishing to play on a Fury Development Program team must register for tryouts.

Here is some more information about the program:

What is the 2024-25 Fury Development Program?

The Fury Development Program is offered for those girls who are looking for an expanded experience beyond what is being offered by House League either as a development bridge to competitive hockey or to have more skills and development opportunities then that afforded by the house league alone.

For the 2024-2025 year, tryouts will be held in September 2024 with activities commencing after the establishment of house league teams. Costs of the Fury Development Program is additional to house league fees.

All players who commit to Fury Development Program teams must participate in all practices, games and team events with their House League team in order to participate in the Fury Development Program for the season.

Who can play?

U9, U11, U13, U15, U18 players interested in joining the Fury Development Program must also be registered in the TBWHA Junior Division House League program.

How can players try out?

All House League players are eligible to try out for the Fury Development Program from U9 to U18. Tryout ice times are anticipated to be held in September 2024 and will be posted in advance of the scheduled times. Players must be registered for TBWHA House League and have signed up for tryouts in advance of tryout dates.

How many games and practices will there be?

In accordance with development programing (DS) guidance associated with OWHA Junior Division is planning on 4 additional ice times per month including a total of 8 games. In addition, 2-3 tournaments are anticipated. Fury Development Program teams will not schedule tournaments, games or practices that conflict with the house league schedule.

There may be circumstances where additional opportunities within a given age division can be accommodated (ie additional games, tournaments, play). These opportunities may be considered where there is no conflict with house league schedules, there is interest from the Fury Development Program team, agreement with the division convenor, and it meets the approval of the TBWHA Junior Division Board.

What is different about the Fury Program over last year?

The Fury Program has been offered by TBWHA for a number of years. Originally intended as a supplemental development program, over the years a higher level of competition and more robust schedule has been offered. These changes overtime have been difficult for TBWHA to sustain while still maintaining levels of play across all other association teams. In an attempt to strike a balance, TBWHA Junior Division, over the next few years, will be rolling out some operational changes to both house league and the Fury Development Program, and will promote more collaboration between all junior teams so that opportunities can be maximized.

Changes to the 2024-2025 Fury Development Program over recent years will vary at each age division and will be tailored to final registration numbers for that age. Overall, the TBWHA Junior Division will be reinstating operational procedures relating to Fury Development Programing wherein house league activities must be prioritized by all Fury teams and Fury players. As it is also the intent, where possible, to provide more opportunities within the house league, in some age divisions this may mean that there is a reduced Fury schedule over previous years.
